When should I start taking BioMirco fertility supplements?Getting started

Most fertility nutritionists recommend starting preconception nutrition at least 90 days before you actively try to conceive. This gives the developing egg and sperm cells the full preparation window. If you're already trying, start now — every cycle benefits.

How long do I need to take them before trying to conceive?Getting started

Ideally 90 days minimum. That's the time it takes for both eggs and sperm to fully mature from their dormant precursor cells. Some couples start 6+ months out, especially if planning IVF or recovering from prior loss.

I'm already trying — is it too late to start?Getting started

No. Even partial overlap with the 90-day window matters because the nutrients available during the final weeks of egg and sperm development still shape cell quality. Start now and you're investing in the cycle three months away.

Do I really need fertility supplements if I'm eating well?Getting started

A balanced diet is the foundation, but preconception nutrition has elevated requirements that are difficult to hit through food alone — particularly folate (800µg active form), CoQ10 (300mg), and iodine. UK Government guidance recommends folic acid supplementation for everyone TTC, and many fertility specialists recommend going further.

Is BioMirco for me if I'm over 35?Getting started

Yes — Fertility Advance is specifically built for women 35+ or anyone trying 12+ months. It contains higher doses of CoQ10 (300mg), folate (800µg), and B12 (750µg) than Fertility Focus, to address the increased oxidative load and cellular energy demands of older eggs.

Should my partner take something too?Getting started

Strongly recommended. Sperm cells take ~90 days to mature, and male nutrient status (zinc, selenium, CoQ10, folate, B12) significantly affects sperm DNA quality. Fertility Advance for Men is built specifically for this. Sperm quality is a factor in around half of all fertility cases.

What's the difference between Fertility Advance and Fertility Focus?Products & formulas

Fertility Advance — 26 nutrients at high-strength doses including 300mg CoQ10, 800µg 5-MTHF folate, 750µg B12. Built for women 35+ or those who have been trying 12+ months. 3 vegan capsules a day. Also used for IVF preparation and post-miscarriage recovery.

Fertility Focus — Same active forms, calibrated doses (200mg CoQ10, 533µg folate, 500µg B12). For women in early TTC, continues safely through the first trimester. 2 vegan capsules a day.

Which formula should I take?Products & formulas

Take our 60-second quiz at /pages/find-your-formula — it routes you based on age, time trying, and whether you're preparing for IVF. Short version: under 35 and trying under 12 months → Fertility Focus. Otherwise → Fertility Advance.

How many capsules do I take per day?Products & formulas

Fertility Advance: 3 capsules per day. Fertility Focus: 2 capsules per day. Each bottle is a 30-day supply.

What time of day should I take BioMirco?Products & formulas

Morning is best for most people because the B vitamins can be mildly energising. Take with your largest meal of the day — fat-soluble nutrients (CoQ10, D3, K2, E) absorb significantly better with dietary fat.

Should I take with food?Products & formulas

Yes. Always with food, ideally a meal containing some fat. This dramatically improves absorption of the fat-soluble nutrients (D3, K2, CoQ10, E) and reduces any stomach sensitivity from the B vitamins.

Can I open the capsules?Products & formulas

Not recommended. The capsules are delayed-release HPMC shells that protect the contents from stomach acid so they dissolve in the small intestine where absorption is best. Opening defeats that protection. If you struggle to swallow capsules, contact us at hello@biomirco.com.

Can I split my daily dose across the day?Products & formulas

Yes — splitting can help with tolerability and provides a steadier nutrient supply across the day. For Fertility Advance, take 2 in the morning + 1 at lunch (or all 3 with the biggest meal). For Focus, 1 in the morning + 1 at lunch works well.

Will I notice a difference quickly?Products & formulas

Most supplement effects are cellular and subtle — you won't "feel" anything change overnight. The most-reported subjective improvement is energy and sleep quality within 2-4 weeks (often attributed to the B vitamins + magnesium). The real benefit is on egg and sperm cells maturing over 90 days, which you only see in outcomes.

Can I take BioMirco while pregnant?Pregnancy & IVF

Fertility Focus is designed to continue safely through the first trimester. After 12 weeks, transition to a dedicated prenatal formula (with iron, which we don't include). Always consult your midwife or GP about your specific supplement plan during pregnancy.

Can I take BioMirco during IVF?Pregnancy & IVF

Yes — BioMirco is built for preconception, which includes IVF preparation. Many IVF specialists recommend starting 90 days before stimulation begins. Always share your supplement plan with your IVF clinic so they can confirm compatibility with your protocol and any prescribed medications.

When should I switch to a prenatal vitamin?Pregnancy & IVF

At 12 weeks (end of first trimester). Pregnancy supplements add iron and adjust some doses for the demands of growing a baby — most are formulated specifically for trimesters 2 and 3 and breastfeeding. Until then, Fertility Focus has you covered.

Should I keep taking BioMirco after a positive pregnancy test?Pregnancy & IVF

If you're on Fertility Focus — yes, continue through the first trimester. If you're on Fertility Advance — switch to Fertility Focus immediately, as some nutrients in Advance (vitamin A precursors, higher zinc) are calibrated for preconception, not pregnancy. Then transition to a prenatal at 12 weeks.

Is Fertility Focus safe in the first trimester?Pregnancy & IVF

Yes — it's specifically formulated to be safe through the first trimester. Folate is at 533µg (close to the 600µg recommended in pregnancy), and the nutrient profile excludes anything contraindicated. Continue until 12 weeks then switch to a dedicated prenatal.

Can I take BioMirco after a miscarriage?Pregnancy & IVF

Yes — Fertility Advance is commonly recommended for post-miscarriage recovery because its higher CoQ10 and folate doses support the cellular reset before trying again. Most clinicians recommend waiting one full cycle before TTC again. Check in with your GP about your individual situation.

Do I have MTHFR? Should I worry about folic acid?Ingredients & science

Up to 40% of women carry an MTHFR gene variant that reduces their ability to convert synthetic folic acid into the active form their body actually uses. Whether you know your status or not, BioMirco uses 5-MTHF — the already-active form of folate, usable by 100% of women regardless of MTHFR status. More on MTHFR →

Why do you use 5-MTHF instead of folic acid?Ingredients & science

5-MTHF (calcium L-methylfolate) is the form your body actually uses at the cellular level. Folic acid is a synthetic that requires a multi-step enzyme conversion before becoming usable — a conversion that's significantly impaired in MTHFR variant carriers. 5-MTHF skips that step entirely.

Why two forms of B12 (methylcobalamin + adenosylcobalamin)?Ingredients & science

Cheaper supplements use cyanocobalamin, a synthetic that your body has to convert. We use the two already-active forms: methylcobalamin (supports nervous system + homocysteine metabolism) and adenosylcobalamin (involved in mitochondrial energy production). Together they cover both major B12 functions without requiring conversion.

Why 300mg CoQ10 in Fertility Advance — isn't that a lot?Ingredients & science

The published research on CoQ10 and egg quality (Bentov 2014, Ben-Meir 2015) uses doses in the 100-600mg range. 300mg sits in the middle of that evidence band and is well-tolerated. CoQ10 is naturally present in cellular mitochondria — its role in oocyte energy metabolism is one of the most-studied areas of supplemental fertility nutrition.

Why don't you include iron?Ingredients & science

Iron requirements rise significantly during pregnancy but during preconception, most women don't need additional iron unless blood tests show deficiency (low ferritin). Stacking iron unnecessarily can cause constipation, oxidative stress, and interferes with zinc/copper absorption. If your GP confirms low iron, take it as a separate supplement, 4+ hours away from BioMirco.

Why no omega-3 / DHA?Ingredients & science

Two reasons. First, fish oil capsules need to be large to provide therapeutic doses, which would inflate our daily capsule count significantly. Second, omega-3 is best supplemented separately so you can adjust dose based on your diet (a few servings of oily fish per week may be sufficient). We may add a standalone omega-3 product in the future.

What's NOT in BioMirco?Ingredients & science

No synthetic folic acid (5-MTHF only), no cyanocobalamin B12 (methyl + adeno only), no magnesium stearate, no titanium dioxide, no artificial colours/flavours/sweeteners, no GMOs, no gluten, dairy, soy, or animal products. Full quality + testing info →

Do you publish your full ingredient list with doses?Ingredients & science

Yes — the complete ingredient breakdown for every product is on each product page, including form, dose per daily serving, and %NRV where applicable. The Our Science page also lists all 26 nutrients with their GB Authorised Health Claims.

Where are BioMirco supplements made?Quality & manufacturing

Made in the United Kingdom at our GMP-certified partner facility. We do not use overseas contract manufacturers or white-label suppliers that obscure ingredient sourcing. More on quality →

Are BioMirco supplements vegan?Quality & manufacturing

Yes — 100% vegan across the range. Capsule shells are plant-based HPMC. Vitamin D3 is lichen-sourced. (The standalone Vitamin D3 4000IU product is the only exception — it uses lanolin-sourced D3, suitable for vegetarians but not vegans. This is clearly labelled on that product page.)

Are they gluten-free? Dairy-free?Quality & manufacturing

Yes to both. Every batch is tested for gluten contamination and confirmed gluten-free. No dairy ingredients in any product.

Are they GMP-certified?Quality & manufacturing

Yes — manufactured at a Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) certified facility in the UK. GMP is the gold-standard certification for supplement manufacturing, covering facility hygiene, equipment calibration, ingredient traceability, batch records, and finished-product testing.

Do you test every batch?Quality & manufacturing

Yes — every production batch is independently tested by a third-party accredited lab for heavy metals (lead, cadmium, mercury, arsenic), microbiological safety (E. coli, Listeria, Coliforms), gluten, pesticide residue, ingredient potency vs label claim, and allergen contamination. Certificates of Analysis are available on request.

Can I take BioMirco alongside other supplements?Stacking & comparing

BioMirco fertility formulas already contain 26 nutrients at considered doses. Adding more on top can in some cases tip you over upper safe limits (particularly for folate, vitamin A precursors, and zinc). If you're unsure, speak to your GP, midwife, or fertility nutritionist before stacking other supplements.

Can I take BioMirco with prescription medications?Stacking & comparing

Always check with your prescribing doctor or pharmacist. Some specific interactions to flag: vitamin K2 with warfarin, vitamin B6 at high doses with L-DOPA, vitamin E at high doses with anticoagulants. BioMirco doses are within standard food supplement ranges, but your doctor knows your full picture.

Should I cycle on/off the supplements?Stacking & comparing

No — preconception nutrition works best taken consistently for the full 90+ day window. Cycling off would reset the cellular benefit. Continue daily until you're either pregnant (then transition per the pregnancy section above) or until your situation changes.

What's the difference between BioMirco and a high-street prenatal?Stacking & comparing

Three key differences: (1) we use active forms of folate and B12, not synthetic forms that require enzymatic conversion; (2) our doses are calibrated to published preconception research, not minimum-deficiency floors; (3) we include nutrients standard prenatals skip (CoQ10, selenium, choline at meaningful doses). Side-by-side comparison →

Where can I find more information about each ingredient?Stacking & comparing

The BioMirco Glossary has plain-English definitions of every ingredient with their authorised health claims. The Our Science page goes deeper on the research behind each. Individual product pages have the full dose breakdown per serving.
