Pregnancy

Nutrition through pregnancy, without the noise

Evidence-led guidance on the nutrients that matter during pregnancy, which of our formulas are safe to continue, and where to find our dedicated pregnancy range when it launches.

Nutrients your body needs more of

Pregnancy roughly doubles the requirement for several key nutrients. Rather than repeating the marketing language most brands use, we prefer to state what the UK Government's Authorised Health Claims register says these nutrients actually do.

Folate

Contributes to maternal tissue growth during pregnancy. Also has a role in the process of cell division. UK NHS guidance is to continue 400 µg from before conception to the end of the first trimester.

Choline

Contributes to normal lipid metabolism and normal homocysteine metabolism. Widely under-included in UK prenatals despite substantial pregnancy demand.

Vitamin D

Contributes to the normal function of the immune system and to the maintenance of normal bones. NHS advises 10 µg (400 IU) daily for all UK adults, higher during pregnancy per individual clinician guidance.

Iodine

Contributes to the normal production of thyroid hormones and normal thyroid function. Requirements rise during pregnancy; NHS-endorsed prenatals include 150 µg.

Iron

Contributes to the normal formation of red blood cells and haemoglobin, and to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue. Blood volume rises significantly in the second half of pregnancy.

Omega-3 (DHA)

Maternal intake of DHA contributes to the normal development of the eye and brain of the foetus and breastfed infants. Beneficial effect obtained from 200 mg DHA daily in addition to normal adult intake.

Continuing your current BioMirco formula

If you were taking one of our formulas before conception, you may not need to stop. The following capsules are formulated at doses appropriate to continue through pregnancy alongside standard NHS antenatal guidance:

  • Fertility Advance — CoQ10 + active-form folate + broader nutrient base View →
  • Fertility Focus — CoQ10 + active-form folate, streamlined View →
  • High Strength Vitamin D3 4000 IU — vegetarian, high-strength View →
  • Triple Magnesium — bisglycinate, citrate, malate blend View →

Always check with your midwife or GP before starting, stopping, or continuing any supplement during pregnancy. Individual requirements vary. If you experience a pregnancy complication, follow clinical advice first and use supplements only as they permit.

Our pregnancy range

A dedicated pregnancy line is in formulation. The current focus is on nutrients most under-served by standard UK prenatals — active-form folate at meaningful dose, choline at a level closer to pregnancy demand, and vitamin D + iodine at NHS-appropriate strength.

Some products in the range are gummy formats and will launch exclusively via Amazon UK. To be notified when each product launches, join our email list at the foot of any page.

Whilst the pregnancy range is in development, our team is happy to answer specific questions — email hello@biomirco.com.
